Habilitation Specialist (Direct Support Professional)
Description:
The Habilitation Specialist (HS) is a professional service provider specializing in the skill of assisting individuals to maintain, learn, or improve skills and functioning for daily living. An HS mentors and trains service providers, while always leading by example. He/she must
have the ability to communicate both orally and in written form, with all members of a team, proficient in PC’s along with all modern administrative software. Most importantly, a Habilitation Specialist wants to be part of an inclusive support team. Hours for this position can vary depending on the individuals being served. Habilitation Specialist pay ranges from $17.00-$23.00 an hour.
Habilitation Specialist general responsibilities:
• Provide professional day habilitation, supported living/in home support, and hourly respite services, as authorized, to individuals served. Person centered services is of the up most importance.
• Assists with creation and development of goals and objectives, along with the proceeding methodology
• Provide quality data to be used for quarterly summaries. This is done with detailed, accurate, and timely documentation.
• Maintaining safe work environment at all times.
• Providing transportation to support the individual/s being served.
• Plays active role in the individual’s team including assisting with the creation, teaching, and utilizing positive behavior support plans.
• Mentor, teach, and lead Hab Academy Support Providers.
• Aid with budgeting, banking, and receipt collection.
Minimum Requirements:
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience providing habilitation services
• At least 18 years old
• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
• Possess a valid Alaska driver’s license, a good driving record, and have insurance on the vehicle used for work.
• Can provide a current certified CPR/First Aid
• Has Current TB Test
• Attend all assigned/scheduled trainings
• Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check
• Must be able to provide 2 professional references and 3 personal references.
